Thursday in the Fourth Week of Lent

Psalm 69  Jeremiah 22:13-23  Romans 8:12-27  John 6:41-51

I spend my work days focusing on helping families make healthy lifestyle choices for themselves and their children. It can be incredibly rewarding when they “get it” and so frustrating when so many things get in the way and they are unable to improve their health. Their focus is diverted or channeled into other life challenges. I completely understand this as I reflect on how often we all choose things that may not be the wisest choices for our health.

I am reminded that our physical bodies, while important, are really only vessels of clay—we are dust and yet . . . our bodies were made in the image of God and they house God’s spirit. We do need to care for them in that context while on this earth.  But more importantly it is our spiritual body which will be re-born to eternal life.

What are you doing to care for your spiritual body?

Heavenly Father, thank you for life, for my physical body made in your image. Help me to use my talents to serve you. May I reach out to you in this time of reflection to learn about my spiritual self. Guide me as I seek you.

Blessings.
